A bit more about Ridgegear
Ridgegear belongs to The Unitex Group, a world-wide group of manufacturing companies with more than 70 years of experience. We have been one of the spearheads of developing and producing innovative technological designs for safety webbings ranging from single-piece air bags that are woven to car seat belts.
Our company has invested in state of the art computer assisted design technologies and techniques which enable us to quickly develop prototypes. We incorporate tested and proven components with innovative designs to come up with functionally improved products that enable enhanced performance and maximum safety and security.
We have this single goal in mind since our inception back in 1998: to prevent serious injuries that may be caused by falls, slips and trips from height.
Our main manufacturing establishment is located within Leek, Staffordshire, giving us a key position in quickly serving Europe’s market for industrial safety and we are able to serve our client’s needs efficiently.
We have benefited from Unitex Group’s wealth of knowledge and expertise. Unitex were the innovators of automotive seat belts and single-piece airbags that are woven and they have remained as the leader of innovations in the industry that have saved the lives of countless peoples throughout the years.
What makes us different?
Innovation is at the forefront of our organisation. We receive support from Marling Leek, the European leader in production of narrow fabric, an innovation that enabled production of single-piece woven airbags as well as car seat belts. Everything that we have learned from Marling Leek was combined with our own knowledge in order to create and produce technically superior webbing products. With our cutting-edge manufacturing, engineering methods and quality testing systems, our range of safety height webbings stand out from the rest.
We weave high-tenacity yarns made of multi-filament polyester on our site using cutting-edge machinery. During this period, the webbing, which is still white, undergoes comprehensive destructive testing to make sure it stands the rigours of the field. It will then be weaved and experienced operators will conduct tests in order to ensure that the webbing will conform to the specified design.
The loom state unbleached webbing will then be taken and treated using advanced continuous piece-dye machinery. To make colour-fast products, we use quality disperse dyes. These are the same dyes employed by car manufacturers and producers of lifesaving items like seat belts. We then inspect and test the webbings all throughout this stage.
Once our product has been dyed properly, we continue to subject it to meticulous testing. We understand the lives of our clients are on the line, so we make sure our products measure up to the standards by conducting tests even when the last step in the manufacturing process has been completed. We will only roll out our webbings when we are sure that it passed our safety tests. We don’t mind the time spent on testing as long as we are sure every product that goes out of our site will keep the user safe.
